I was visiting the World War II Memorial yesterday, when I saw this mother and child playing near the fountains.

I was struck by the scene, but I'm not completely satisfied with how it turned out. I'd like to know what anyone thinks I could have done better.

The photos dont say anything. There is no story, just a bunch of people walking around and a woman and child in the foreground. Just says nothing. The place is full of emotion but that hasnt been conveyed at all.

I suppose I was feeling it, but didn't make it a part of the composition.

I think I was just stuck by the contrast between what I was feeling and the innocence of the scene.

Thanks.

Perhaps if there was some common unity among all the other people -- all facing the same direction, or hands on heart during a moment of silence something like that while at the same time the innocence of the child is at play oblivious to the goings on. That would have made it poigniant. But unfortunately everyone seems to be here and there with nothing to distinguish or make relevant the moment.
