Hey Paul, that shot rocks. Putting my CC had on for a min I would say that watch the horizon as it is cutting right across the neck line and also I would have gone for a low amount of fill flash to lift your friends. (Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing LOL).

What sort of editing did you use to give the sort of hdr affect?
Hi Mark

thanks for your compliments, and at the same time I REALLY appreciate your "cc hat" constructive remarks too!!

Yes... I forgot about that horizon... till too late. About the fill flash.. I was thinking about flash when I thought about this photo. But I had to get back to my car and didn't want to do too many experiments with flash exposures, ISO, etc. So I took 2 shots (different exposure settings) - and looked at the histograms / picture on my DSLR screen and thought this one was good enough.

About the editing (to give it sort of a HDR effect). I must admit, NO HDR processing on this photo (though I do HDR sometimes). What I did was add a little contrast, brightness, saturation, highlight/shadows and a few minor curve tweaks.. and there you have it! Not more than a 5 minute edit.

Hi mcliu

thanks for your heartening comments. I am also thankful (right place, right time, with camera in hand) for this photo. And my friends love it. They'll print it out they just told me (as I sent them the original sized version, which I had done some post processing on).
