Here are a few pics from my float trip this weekend. I spent some time messing around with the Canon S5's "color accent" mode. I lost a little quality when I resixed them down to post up, but they still look pretty decent.

What do you think?

I think you love the boat and everyting around it. Only boat items have color.

Great way toguide the viewer towards the picture subject at first glance.

Far more precise then the AK-47 :ak47:

Not to be a downer here but I don't quite see the point in these pictures. As an experiment in selective coloring they are very well done, but the coloring doesn't really add anything to the photos in my opinion. If they were an experiment then I would say you have a firm grasp on the technique. If you were trying to make images with more impact it isn't coming across to me.

Take the first picture of the two kayaks, the kayak that is partially colored looks old and grayed as if it had fur that could do that. Ot at least it would if the rest of the picture wasn't monochrome as well. What if you take that partially colored kayak and add it back to the originally colored photo? I think that would make an interesting piece about an aged kayak. A similar thought process could probably be used on the other shots to turn the selective coloring into more than an experiment in technique.

The idea could work...it just needs less crowded black and white pictures and right colored subject. More Depth of field might make it more pleasing for the eye.

Black and white is very catchy already... smooth out the background with DoF and color the subject. That would make it more pleasing to the eye and make the subject come out of the pic.

I still think it's a nice idea
