I've votedthe first one since I liked the light modelling the subject there withoutcausing much contrast...

Thank you very much for your reply! Last year, we shot 275 kids using the lighting technique in the 2nd pic, with no complaints, but I'm experimenting with more shadow as to draw more focus to the face rather than the background.

I need as many votes today as possible because tonight we shoot the first 100 of 300 kids in football portraits!

Lighting wise - 1 looks better. The skin tones on the face in 2 do not look right.

Also - is it just the resize? But to me neither face appears to be in decent focus

Hi JohnG Thanks for replying, I always look forward to your replies and expertise.

Yes, the resize makes them look fuzzy. The full sized photos are crisp and clear.

They both look the same to me. Id like to see something about football as the background. Like the uprights or some lines on the ground. As it is it looks like they are posing on the golf course and I find the woods a bit of a distraction moreso in the first pic than the second.

Unfortunately, we don't have the use of the football field on picture day. It costs the team big bucks to rent the field and they already pay through the nose for games played on the field. So, we're limited to the practice field beside a school, as this is where they've shot portraits and team pics for 10+ years now. This school practice field has goal posts, but the background is nothing but tract housing in the distance, except for this small wooded area.

I think they're very much alike. I'd give a fine edge to #1

both files are a little on the small side to do muchby way

of PP editing or deal with the mark under the boys right eye

in #1.......As an editI darkened the background a little to make the

subject stand out a bit more in#1................:|..........musket.
