I took this one on my backyard. Don't know this flower's name. Nikon D40 with 55-200mm lens, f5.6, 1/500 sec, ISo 200. Comments and critiques are very welcome. Thanks!

I would have to say that's a bizarre flower.

Nice bokeh in the background.

Looks slightly out of focus.

Flowers photography is very interesting and you can get some amazing results with continued practice.

I would suggest "keep shooting"!

......I believe what you've got there is a bloom of 'bull thistle'. Here is one from my photos, it looks pretty much the same. Olympus E-300 50-200ZD @ 200mm ISO 400 f/3.5 1/500 handheld.

These are very much the same shot of a like subject. Your photo does show to be out of focus, as Terry says, "keep shooting", the practice can fix what caused it.

It is an effective composition for me and I'm not so bothered by the portion that is slightly out of focus. It's a DOF issue so it works well. The main attraction is sharp.
