Hello all

A few photos from a camping weekend 10 days ago at York Peninsula - almost 4 hours away from Adelaide, South Australia.

I would like your input and help to provide some feedback about these two photos of the same cliff / beach / distant island scene (taken only a few minutes apart, with the same camera, same lens).

Some different post processing was applied - and I just wonder what your preferences / suggestions are?

Photo 2... this is the other option.

Camera: Canon 350D. Lens: Canon 100-300mm USM (at 100mm)

Many thanks in advance for your helpful comments, thoughts, suggestions and input.

Regards

Paul

PS... to get an idea of the perspective, the little dark dot in the water in photo 1 (above) - is a surfer sitting on his surf board. The cliffs would probably be about 50 metres (150 feet) high, rising straight out of the pounding ocean!

Great picture. My preference would be #1. The sky is very dark and grey looking in #2. I also like the colours of the water in 1 compaired to 2. Nice work.

I like #1 also. The second shot is too oversaturated IMO.

Hi, Also No1 gets my vote, I assume the sun was coming from the right.
If you camped there why not an early morning sunrise or a sunset I always think they give better photographs of the sea JMO.

Not just going along with the crowd, Paul, but my vote is for #1 also, reason being sky and water color.. What was on the Island in the distance? Curious.. Robert

well...not just for going againt the grain!... but I should say,(with the tone of the cliffs in #2 looking more matured also) Ifind the dramatic lighting suggestedin #2 more interesting than in #1 (but please remember to select the water and the island individually for the levels adjustment and then a high radius but low amount sharpening)!Oh, it just reminded me some pictures with glowing foregrounds and midgrounds against a greyish background sky thanks to theunevenlighting!

On the other hand, compositionwise, it is #1 which appeals to me. As you have the originals you can arrange a comprimise, imo. Oh, that's wonderful setting for shooting

I agree with bahadir here, the composition in #2 is not as good as in #1, but I really like the cliff color in #2. And I couldn't decide which water color I liked better, but the sky is better in #1 IMO.

I'll go with picture 1 1/2, # 1 is too light and # 2 is too dark, somewhere in the middle would be my pick.
