Well I suppose if the bird was singing I Dream A Dream from Les Miserables that might help it along. Other than that it looks just fine as it is.

Which would make a better bird portrait? The one I posted first or this one:

This is cropped horizontal


This is cropped vertical


Please say why you made the choice you did.

If you want a portrait of the bird the second shot is best. But to show what the bird looks like overall then its the first one.

Personally, I like the horizontal close-up best. I think the long shot has a distracting background and the details in the tree make me focus as much on the tree as the bird.

The close-up has a beautiful background. There is enough of the tree to give a sense of environment, but not so much to add visual complexity.

Nice job.
