Default My neighbour's cat

What do you guys think? I'm pretty new to the SLR game, so any tips are much appreciated...

I used my new (old) beercan lens that I got on eBay a couple of weeks back. I'm quite pleased with the colours and sharpness it seems to give.

Welcome to Steve's

I really like this shot, it has the sort of feel where I would expect to find in a poster, one of these inspirational or comedy ones.

I think that it is slightly under exposed due to all the white of the cat and the door/window in the background. I think a bit of fill flash would also help with the shadows on the face.

As for composition I really like that, it has a good balance and I like the colours of the clothes pegs in the background too.

Congratulations on making a good strong post for your first here, you do realise now that we will have high expectations for the future!!

Thanks Mark. Good tip on the fill flash.

I should explain the title of photo. The cat is called Mogwai, which is also the name of a Scottish band who did a song called Batcat - it all links up!

You can find more explanation here.

And here is my Flickr photostream.

You're welcome Sandy.

I had a quick look at your Flickr account and seems you have a good eye so really hope you stick around and share with the members here.

I love it! Fat cat sitting there looking lazy with the perfect background for the shot.

Colour is vibrant, and the backround suits the cats facial expression.
