Been waiting for a clear sky to try the new lens.

The moon is an interesting and alluring subject that most of us have tried to photograph at one time or another. It's a strange subject to get a good shot of as most of us don't have access to long enough lenses to get up close and personal.

To me it looks a little under exposed and generally a narrower aperture gives sharper results (can't tell how this from a reduced image rather than a crop).

How do you feel about the new lens?

Love the new lens thus far. It is a tad awkward to handle but worth it to get the reach.
I am going to try again this evening, skies permitting, and play with the exposure a bit and may put the TC 1.4 in place to compare IQ.

Sounds like a good plan. I would be looking at about f11 or so and ensure you are on a sturdy tripod.

Let us know how you get on.

How about white balance? This was on "auto"

Also, I took a couple this evening with the 1.4 TC and they were dark. Had to add some fill light. Got interupted with visitors so will try again this evening hopefully.

Any suggestions on a starting point when using the TC's?

Two more from last night.
I think I'm going in the wrong direction.
