In the second the subject is separated from the background as I think you intended but it is almost too much separation. In particular, her left hand appears to be resting on something on a different plane entirely.
Maybe there should be more of a transition of the chair into the background?

Thank you for the extensive feedback indicating your preference as well. The second one may require a retake for some further refinement to ease that 'something' out there still calling me!! Actually as can be inferred from the abovementioned comments also, these two are quite different in many ways, the first one calls for 'gaze' to appeal while the second one is catchy for 'glance', for example : )
