Nice shot. Perspective and contrast are spot on. Did you use a polarizer for the sky, or pp? Nice photo and caption...

Hawgwild- thank you for your kind words. no circular pol was used for this shot. detail from the sky was brought out in post using the channel mixer.

Simple- thank you for your comments.

appreciate it guys.

my only wish is that the foliage behind the woman and kids wasn't quite as dark, it would have allowed them to stand out better. i played around a lil in post, but couldnt really lighten it and make it remain natural. and i keep wishing i had an image of them about 3 steps sooner to see if that worked better. oh well, live and learn.

Nice. You can add some dramatism and detail playing around with contrast, sharpness and gamma correction:

Well done Dustin! Meaningful text to go with the image, indeed! Ah, as Heraclitus' river runs below...

Imho, some elements tend to be a bit distracting from the subject due to the contrast they offer, which otherwise prove to be leading to it. Below is just an attempt to arrange the lighting somewhat.

I've played with this picture, and in my opinion the lighting is about as good as it gets. Alternative crops however work just fine, although not particulerly better than what is already posted.

Nice shot. I would suggest that Hards80 try some of these alternative crops, just to see what happens.

thanks all for your comments/suggestions/edits.

i tried many things to separate the subjects from the background, but found as bahadir i am sure did as well, it came at the loss of contrast.

i actually had an aged color looking photo that i was considering posting as well. let me put that up tonite when i get home.

again, thanks all
