Usually scale, intentions and anonymity.

Back in the 30's the US Government actually sponsored Street Murals. Often enough today, (At least in NYC) Street murals are done by itinerant artists hired to commemorate someones sudden demise, with a store owner offering up his bricks for the job.

The images you've posted (and I like these photographs, don't take this post as a critique) are not graffitti, but rather Street Murals. If you saw ME do a street mural, you would be justified in calling it graffetti.

Such is my opinion.

Mural, street painting, graffiti... who cares? Words change.
You can’t read the graffiti in the graffiti I posted.
That’s my failure.
I don't know you, but I'm here to learn.

Here we go again. To me graffiti is something that isnt pleasant to look at compared to the surface it was on before applied. A mural has been applied with some artistic merit and gives the surface a new, perhaps even improved appearance. And its done with the permission of the walls owner. True graffiti to me has been applied with the dexterity of a paraplegic on steroids with a brain to match. If caught they should have their right hand amputated and the next time they are caught their eyes removed with a hot poker. Oh, did I say graffiti really pisses me off? I was biking through a nice park yesterday and saw enough of it. Stupid kids with a spray can. I should have taken some shots to post here and get your opinions. Does the world really have to know Gomez loves Barb?

This is a good and valid question, one I have been wondering myself.
