This pick makes me think there's a missing Forum (JimC will kill me for this):

Street and Snap Shots.

My assumption was, the bride whose wedding it was would recognize her shoes and gown. This was shot as a part of a wedding, not to be the only shot from a wedding. A piece of the puzzle as it were. Not the whole puzzle.

#2- I don't see the photo as being cluttered. I do see how the border could be considered as clutter though.

#3- I agree, but think enough is there to convey the message, "Texas Bride" which was very much the theme of her wedding.
Richard,

It helps to understand the context of the "Texas Bride" to understand the motivation for #1. As part of a series, I can see it working.

Re. #2 & #3, we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I am a purist when it comes to composition (i.e. clear subject, or positioning, good cropping, things that lead the viewer's eye to the focal point, etc). Unfortunately, these 2 compositions do not appeal to me. But then again, art is a matter of personal preference!

its really hard to judge this shot on its own, as it really gives us very little to say "bride" but as part of a series of images, it could work as a detail shot and i am sure something a bride would like.

are the dress and shoes really that light pink color, or are they white?
I agree and would say the exact same thing myself
