Default To crop or not to crop.....

...that is the question! Would you?

If I cut off the lower 1/5th with the dock and snow. Will the picture be the same? Can it stand on its own, or does it need the forground to create some kind of depth? Even if the forground creating this depth is dead boring?

I wonder if the river and the other bank would be too boring to be without its snowcapped dock in the foreground (lower picture-frame)?

Yes I know I should have given it a lower perspective, maybe with a decent wide-angle, maybe a Tokina 11-16mm (which I don't have, but it's my dream-lens = only a dream of course for some time to come!) so the foreground would have been closer to the background - or what do you think?

...
The single middle-exposure for comparison:

Its probably an easy way out but I like both versions. Cropped is fine giving a panorama view of the boats tied up. Uncropped and its a whole different picture, more about the river and its surroundings. I like the posts and clean undisturbed snow at the bottom. Another lovely pic Walter.

Walter,

I like this picture just the way that it is. All of the elements truly work together, for me, and I find nothing at all detracting from it. I would NOT crop this photo - if it were mine. Good shot.

The foreground really adds something to the pic, so for me this shot works the way it is and I wouldn't crop it in any way.

Just my 2 cents

I like the foreground, it adds to the image.
But you could have the posts and far bank/boats closer together by cropping....after you move the path and posts up a bit.
Which will also give it more of a panoramic view :

Hello, Stevekin - and thank's a lot for your edit. It looks great and this is a compromise-solution I never would have thought of - because I'm really not into PP so much, and didn't know was possible....

Thank you so much for taking the time!
Appreciate it.
