How can I get this portrait better?
Hating the hair-leaves coincidence, and other issues...

I hope someone can come up with an easy way of doing it - I tried it and couldn't get a good selection easily. I love his face.

you might be able to desaturate the green channel, since i doubt it would impact much else in the scene. then once they are a shade of grey, could easily dodge them until they are light enough not to distract. but i am sure someone with patience for the hair area could just as easily clone it.

anyways, i do like the picture. it is very expressive. normally the lack of eye contact can be a problem, but for this candid, it is not.

The hair looked a little too messy so its easier to just clone out what you have to including the leaves. If you want just the leaves removed let me know.

JollyRoger, the problem I see with your version is its too clean. Looks like he was cut out of the picture with a pair of scissors. Without little whisps of hair to make it look real it just looks fake. Having that nice white background and he could be sitting anywhere, like this place in Taiwan.
