Not really a question of "bad" or "good," although it sure ain't great...

I like shooting a subject, using a wall, fence, whatever, as a way of drawing the eye to my target. What is your target? A little patch of scenery?

Is the wall your target?

In other words, the composition lacks a subject. That's it in a nutshell. But the idea of using one part of a photograph to set up another ain't bad. Keep plugging away!!!

This shot would definitely benefit from HDR, except, as you point out, why bother?

I would of not just tried to capture the tree if that is what you are trying to gin here... try next time angling the shot at the corner of the building it would give more to the shot to look at than a tree on the side of the cob house I really would love to see more of the house structure than part and lone tree and if you can see there is more to the back ground than what really draws my attention....so step back and off and aim to the corner of the house as if you were cornered by the view.... in the L of it.

Thanks, this was the kind of info I was looking for. You all helped me a lot! The tree was a major distraction.

Again many thanks!
