Default Still life

I'm rarely brave enough to offer a photo for critique, but as this is a different style shot than my usual I thought I would see what you all think as I quite enjoyed trying something different.

Oh, I didn't play until the drink was gone so potentially a full, or half full (half empty you decide), 3/4, 1/4 etc glass would have been better.

Very simple picture with some pretty complex stuff going on there. The bottom of the glass looks like chrome. The nice color contrasts. The interesting texture contrasts. The play of the light. The balance of the composition. This is a great shot. I would like to see the same shot with the glass half full or half empty, your choice.

Thanks Bynx, you found elements that I hadn't even spotted, like the reflection of the sky in the bottom of the glass.

I go to this place quite often so if I'm sitting in a similar place at a similar time of day for a good shadow then I will take another.... and make sure I order a glass of juice just for photo purposes.

Nice one Mark, I really like the shadow of the glass.

i commented on this in the other forum.

but what stands out for me in this photograph is the nice diagonal created by the angle of the sun, and then the pleasing color combination of the orange and the earth tones of the table. also your placement of the glass is nice. and as bynx noted the blue in the bottom of the glass adds a nice little bonus.

simple but yet very pleasing as the others say the placement is spot on the shadow just ends in the right place. did you try a shot with the straw at the front of th glass or was it too distracting?

Can't remind if I commented this one in the Bi-weekly section (Alzheimer-signs in my age??), so I do it here... but I don't have a lot to say: This shot is just great - everything's perfect!!

I'm glad everyone likes it, I'm going to have to try some more shots at some point and see how they go. My concern is that I've already had my winning shot so might be best to stop here.

not sure why you are afraid to post more of your work for critique. I like this one a lot. the reflection on the bottom of the glass makes to shot interesting to me.
