Default Cholla Cactus Garden

Our recent trip out to Southern California gave us some great photo ops. This is one of my favorites. What do you think?

Is this Joshua Tree? Nice shot. I deepened the colors with gamma and took out the obvious contrail.

That was quick Yes this is Joshua tree. What a fantastic place! We spent two days there a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. It would be easy to spend a month or more in that park!

The darker sky adds a lot of depth, I'll have to go back and work on it some more. As for the contrail, I debated on whether or not to remove it and after looking at it without, I like it better.

Thanks for your input

Yes, it's a great place to visit. Did you see any wildflowers. They should be in bloom about now.

I like the low angle that you used for this composition...it really gives a sense of depth between the cacti and the mountains in the background. Nice edit by Pboeger as well!

Kind of reminds me of the movie "Tremors". I know some of the scenes were taken north of this location, but sky the and the general feel of it, has me waiting for a giant worm to pop out...

i like the placement of the foreground cactus and the low perspective used in this shot. it works quite well for this subject

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. Walter, the wildflowers were beautiful out there but were just starting to bloom.

Very nice picture! I like the edit for the sky, but I prefer the cactus in your picture. I've always loved seeing cholla cactus back-lit, the cream spines make such a lovely halo around them. However, I've never quite gotten a good picture of one that way.

Did you know that there's a type of cholla that grows as tall as a person, it's quite something to see when you are used to seeing ones that grow to about knee level.
