Default Trout Club

I took this photo a while back and , from time to time, review it as while I like it I'm not altogether satisfied with it. Today, I looked it again and decided to crop it a bit.

Here are both versions. Would appreciate any, comments or suggestions or should I just forget it and move on.

Thanx in advance.
Zig

I like left. The posture of the man is not very appealing, tho.

I like the first shot better the cropping doesn't add anything to me, but i am no expert.

I agree that the posture of the man is the weak spot of this photo and the original is fine. I do think everything needs rotating anti clockwise a little as it seems off.

I think we need to be careful though as we need to follow the rules of Trout Club.

Welcome to Trout Club. The first rule of Trout Club is: you do not talk about Trout Club. The second rule of Trout Club is: you DO NOT talk about Trout Club! Third rule of Trout Club: if someone yells "stop!", goes limp, or taps out, the fishing is over. Fourth rule: only two guys fishing. Fifth rule: one fish at a time, fellas. Sixth rule: the fishing is bare knuckle. No shirt, no shoes, no weapons. Seventh rule: fishing will go on as long as it has to. And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Trout Club, you have to fish.

If you are not a movie buff I will explain later

HI Ordo, Wintershooter, Mark,

Thanks for taking the time to comment and critique. Until you mentioned the awkward pose of the fisherman, I hadn't really noticed it. But, that could be much of the reason I'm not satisfied with it.

Mark,

Between the tree on the right, the stonewall, the shoreline in the foreground and far shore, the image does have a fair amount of angles. I decided to balance the frame using the far shore. I then thought if I cropped the image a bit, (the 2nd shot) that would eliminate the stonewall and much of the competing angle of the tree.

To me, I prefer the 2nd image. BUT, the fisherman ,now is larger and more of an issue.

As for your movie riddle, my wife and I try to catch a movie or two per week. So, I do fancy myself a bit of a movie nut. But, you've stumped me on this one.

I'm looking forward to the answer.

When I read 'Trout Club' , my first thought was a heavy stick to stun the fish with when you get it in the boat. Also called a 'fish billy'. Was expecting to see a really big fish, though.
