Default Snow Globe - Critique Required

Hi guys,

Hope you're all well, I haven't posted in ages as have been busy with various projects and stuff.

Anyway, just finished this shot which is to be used on an album cover:

Would love to hear your thoughts :-)

Thanks,

The hands look like a prop. The dirt doesnt look 'natural'. And the dirt doesnt look like dirt but some kind of soot powder which has been applied.

Hi Bynx, thanks for the feedback. Tjhe hand does look unnatural but that is largely a result of teh post processing and is a look that client was after.

Re: the dirt, oil, facepaint and soot was used to add a grimy effect.

Dont know why they would want a fake dirty look, but if you reshoot for any reason make sure the dirt gets right into the nails, all around and in every nook and cranny. Coal miners have fingernails which never come clean. Also sweat from the hard work will make the dirt smear. Just my suggestions for a more natural and honest look.

Amazing. Is this a pick for an album cover really? A great job full of readigns. The dirt doesn't bother me at all as it's secondary to the story.

I like this as an album cover, perhaps the fake dirty look that bynx mentions is meant to imply the person has done something wrong, holding the delicate snow globe in hands that usually don't get that dirty.

I think the contrast of the soot covered hand and the innocence of the snow globe is quite nice, and you did a good job with it, i think it should work nicely.

Could you selectively sharpen the girls in the snow globe a bit more though, the softness distracts me compared to the hand.
