Nice, I like the dark background. The blossoms are nice and sharp and the water drops really add alot.

I'd prefer a little more light control.

If you don't mind my asking, Bynx, I'm not sure I quite understand what you mean about wanting better light control. Are you saying you'd want all of the blossoms evenly lit, or something else? I admit I'm really tired tonight and could be missing something obvious (was out partying way past my bedtime last night) but I'm really wondering what you were meaning. Now I understand the busty redhead holding a cherry blossom - I'm not THAT sleepy.

i like the black backdrop quite a bit. but the flowers are a little bit flat and dull. i assume they are closer to white in real life than they appear here?

Exactly Dustin, its that dullness which needs some light. Also too many nooks and crannies that need something. At the same time thats a nice catch of what looks like light coming from the centers of a few of the flowers.
By the way, isnt that a clipping that you shot indoors. After spraying with a windex bottle?

I thought of that, lightening up the flowers so they aren't quite as dark. However, I liked the effect of the lighter centers and a few others, and thought that might be lost if all the flowers were brighter. So I wondered if there was something else that I was missing, such as placing a light somewhere slightly differently or something like that. Thanks for explaining what you meant.

When I looked at the picture on my home monitor, it looked very nice, brighter than it does on my monitor at work.

Default Great soft mood in this picture, Eddie!

IMO the very soft light gives this flower-shot a nice calm and warm mood, as it is. There is this very real 'tenderness' coming off that bunch of flowers.

Are we going too far sometimes (I myself am one of the first to admit that...) and want to see "pop" everywhere, every photo has to "pop"? Of course its nicer too look at when colors and the lighting "pops" - but are we not sometimes sacrifizing mood for "pop"?

I am just thinking out loud, really, and have not enough experience to say which is right and which is wrong - if ther is a right or wrong at all.

Anyway, I was somehow intrigued by this flower-shot - something which normally leaves me un-touched (not my cup of tea...), and tried some edits, just to see what we are (not)missing....
