I used Photomatix Pro 3.2
It's very easy to use.. even for a layman like myself.
Also you can create an hdr photo with only 1 raw file. So even if you have a one shot chance only you would be able to make something nice out of it.
In addition I have the ebook HDR PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTO WORKSHOP by Pete Carr and Robert Correll. There are some nice tips and tricks in there. Unfortunately I still haven't had to the time to read it in detail (still need to read a dozen other ebooks on photography )
Probably I'll try out some other hdr-software as well and see which one is set most to my likings.

I don't want to hijack your thread, but can somebody please tell me how to work with ONE RAW file in Photomatix? I don't mean three or some exposures from one RAW file, I mean just the original RAW file! I know how it works in DPHDR, but in Photomatix? Really need your help guys

No worries, we're here to help each other out. And I'm happy to help someone else instead of asking questions all the time
In Photomatix you should press the "file" button in the top left corner. Then the option "open" (or simply press ctrl+o) select your solo-raw file and photomatix does the rest.
The you can use tonemapping to further adjust the photo.

Thanks for the help... maybe I was to blind or to stupid

Until now I always used three jpg files with photomatix and the single raw file with DPHDR... I'll give it a try
