how did you get salt that close? im guessing its taken through the eye of a microscope?

edit - - an electro-microscope?

Just a regular microscope, attached my camera to it via photo adapter and t-ring. I believe this is 250x magnification.

Cool shot! This reminds me of my geology classes from MANY years ago.

Is this from a chunk of salt? I can't envision what a grain would look like at 250x.

This is a salt water solution evaporated so the salt recrystallizes. I should try just a grain haha, thanks.

Ahh...thanks for the explanation. If this is table-salt (NaCl, I think), I had thought that I'd see more of a cuboid, crystalline structure. But I don't recall ever seeing something like this at such a relatively high magnification.

Anyway, dredging up these memories was fun! Thanks again!
