Default Down By the Bay...

I like the idea of this shot. I hope maybe someone who knows more than me will jump in and explain why I'd put this into the "almost" category, rather than the "bingo, that's really good" category. I like the small dof, but almost wish that the background was a bit more blurred? Or perhaps I wish that it were cropped where there were no water/bay showing (but that puts the fence in context so perhaps it needs to be there)? Or perhaps I wish that the lighting was different, more on the right side than on the left (but not completely front lit), because there's too much dark and I want to see more of the rope and wood detail? It's almost backlit but not quite. I can't quite decide why, if the picture were mine, I'd not be quite satisfied with it. It has lots of good things going for it.

I think I'd try to crop the right side to just have the fence posts in frame and see what it looks like then. Perhaps others will have a better idea how to improve the shot because there's so much that's positive about it.

Yep. Nice idea. I would like to see the top of the first post. The crop is affecting the pick.
