Default North Shore Maui

Hey all..
I just bought a used D40 and am still playing around with it, so I'll post some pics later to critique, but here are a few I took with my Fuji S5000 a few years back in Maui. Any thoughts??

When I saw this I immediately thought of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" video. Sexy. And while you usually think of bright, bold, highly saturated beach shots, taking out the color really demonstrates the awesome beach texture.

Good timing on the wave crash in the second shot.

I think I'd play around with cropping a bit to tell the best story. Maybe make the first shot really long and not very tall, cropping out the first two "rows" of rocks on the bottom? I dunno.

Great idea perdendosi, I hadn't thought about cropping it that way.
I had it printed out 8x10 and put it in one of those black "floating picture" frames and gave it to my wife as an anniversary present.. Looks great in the bedroom.
Now I'm going to have to play around with the cropping some more..

Somewhere I have a picture of a tiny lifeguard shack on the beach that I also took in B&W..
I'll have to find it and post it in the other forum.

Nice photos Bryan.

I agree, timing on 2nd photos is very good. I feel, maybe if there was a bit more space to the right of the 'crashing wave' that might be good (but I'm not sure).

Did you take these in colour? Just for interest - could you post colour versions up - for comparison?

The rock and wave textures do take an interesting perspective in B&W.

Cheers. Well done!
