Default Photoshop Critique

Ok this is my first true photoshop pic. I mean I have used photoshop before to crop and adjust color, but this is the first time I have done layers and all that good stuff. Let me know your honest critique. Thanks.

Surely you are jesting about critiquing this picture. If you are serious about having people spend time typing their thoughts about your post, then your post should show at least some effort was put into it. I dont think there is a single deeming quality of what you have posted and Im the easiest guy here.

well, before we jump to conclusions here... maybe he was going for the minimalist-ish, macro, oldtimey-, strange picture...

Id be interested to here what the OP was trying to achieve.

Well what I was trying to do was to create an old style photo, but by the comments I guess it didnt work well. I did put effort into this. It took me a 2hrs just do that. I am in no way familiar with ps cs4 or any ps for that matter. I tried following a tutorial on line. I know that pic is not all that but I tought it was good enough for the effect. The following pic is the origanal.

I in no means tried to offend anybody. I was looking for some feedback since I had never tried anything like this before. Ill watch what I post next time. Thanks.

Hey sorry for those comments, this place is USUALLY good about welcoming new ideas in people, don't take any of that to heart, most of us are good guys around here i think the vertical banding was overdone, and really took away from the picture, the sepia though is going in the right direction

I think the subject matter is not the greatest for the affect you are going for. Something slightly more recognizable perhaps? And i agree with the vertical banding a bit over done.

Pbjunkiee & ewheeler20- Thank for the feedback I will try taking the pic again and give the rear subject more focus and retry the effect and see how it goes with less vertical bands. Thanks again.
