Default Girl in weeds that are pretending to be flowers

C & C please.

F 2.2

I have 3 others from this shoot if it would be beneficial to see them to further critique the work.

Thanks!!

My sentiments exactly, even down to the already mentioned branch!

Hey FP, congratulations on what I believe to be the best photo you've posted here

There are a few things that would help take it up another level (branch already mentioned).

1, get her out of the middle, you don't have to be rigid on the rule of 1/3s however being slap bag in the centre doesn't help.

2, include more of her hand, this is a key element to the photo as she engages with the fern, it's not only that she is touching it, but that her gaze is leading us to that point, when we get there we miss what is going on.

3, we don't actually have the eyes, which is any portrait is tough as we will initially go to them. I still think this photo works OK because of everything else, but having a slightly different angle, her looking a little differently it would help us connect better with the subject.

4, for my taste, a little more contrast/levels to give it a bit more pop.

I will say again though that I really do like this, a great feel, a pretty subject and cool location.

I too would like to see the others, possibly put them in their own thread so again you can get more detailed feedback.

Here is a quick edit for a crop idea and a bit of levels (just to say I'm on my wife's uncalibrated laptop so if the colours are out, that's the reason).

Not sure what you mean, can you explain a bit more what you are thinking?

FP - this is a great shot!

It has a wonderful tender, intimate feel to it. I love it that the girl's hair, her blue top contrast with the green/yellow of the foilage.

I agree about the 'rule' of thirds (I prefer to call it the 'guide' of thirds) - and would have done similar to Mark's crop, maybe even cropped off a bit more.

Also, yes, if her hand was not right at the bottom of the photo - that would probably also improve it.

Well done. Keep it up!

Paul

Mark...

As you know I'm a newbie...I was thinking if the photo was shoot with ISO 100 instead of ISO 800, would it have more details? I may sound stupid, but it's ok.
