unfortunately, the flash really dulled the photo down and makes the subject seems a bit flat. The background color leaves a bit to be desired, as does the cropping.

I hate to be harsh, but it's just my opinion. dont hate me.

Yes. do love chasing bees, though, they probably have a different opinion.
Newbie, oldbie, doesn't make a difference...we all take several till we get the one we Want.
Personally, Since I do not have luck with photoshop programs...in other words I have no Patience, I have to get the shot right...so it is a wonder I haven't been stung yet, I follow the bees from flower, to flower, to flower, to flower...and to flower...they must weary of me.
and I have been doing this for many years...but my memory does me a disservice...now what does A mean again? kidding, sorta.

i am glad you stopped by and shared a pic with us here.

there is a good thing here, you composed the shot so the bee is on the intersection of the right and top 1/3 lines. which follows good composition rules. so i am happy to see you staying away from just centering everything in the middle.

but, there are some things that can be improved. first off, the shot is a little bit cool "blueish" from the flash, especially compared to the background, so you may have to custom white balance a tricky shot like this next time. also, the bee is not prominent in the scene. if you are going to shoot macro or closeup, make it big, make it a real macro. here neither the bee nor the flower are prominent enough in the scene. also, your bee is a bit on the soft side (blurry).

so next time, get closer, brave the chance of a sting, and make no doubt in the viewers mind that the bee is the main subject, make him big, make him fill >50% of the frame.

look forward to more, good first attempt here, always much to learn
