Default new hobby, just got my camera!

i just got my e pl1 had a quick look around my garden to find some stuff to photograph, dont really know anything about composition.
i had a go in lightroom to edit, but to be honest i didnt really know what i was doing, toggled the sliders a bit but manly it was jsut inreasing sharpness and "blacks"

the picture of the stones is jpeg.
i think the only way i could shoot raw is if i got some good lightroom presets as i dont want to be fiddling about with it all the time.

please limit to one photo per post in the critique forum. That way you'll get more specific feedback.

Amazing considering it's a new hobby for you.
Looks like you are grasping composition well to me. Like last shot of the bottle and garden digger best, like the composition and feel.
The pebbles look nice to me, like the diagonal.
The flowers a bit dogeared but I like the where you put it in the frame.
Keep going, with first pics like that you could be great.
My opinion and what do I know but for me you have done really well with your first attempt, Looks like a lot of creativity in there ready to burst out.

Those look great to me! On the flower if you're focusing in on the middle I think it would be better if you were up super close but you might be somewhat limited by whatever lens you have. I don't know what the e pl1 is so I'm just guessing. If you're going to be at that distance then I'd personally rather see the whole flower in focus. I think the pics are great though.

hey thanks for replying, after i posted and had a closer look i thought it would have been better if i had had all the petals in focus too.

Hopefully i'll get some time to take the camera out with me properly so that I can take some more interesting shots

If this is really "new hobby, just got my camera"...Your off to a great start...
For me, really nice composition on all the shots...Personally, I like my flower shots with a bit of DOF effect on the petals or leaves...All in focus works for some as well...I really like the spade and jar...Nice photo's...
