For whatever reason, the picture is not sharp. Ran it through Focus Magic and reduced size for the web. Under 200 bytes seems best for this site.

Agreed - the original image just isn't sharp. Now, if you post a photo that is too large the site automatically downsizes the image and IQ takes a hit. So it's a question of whether the softness was due to that or whether the image is in-fact soft to begin with. The focus magic helped for certain but obviously working with such a small image file it's tough to do any type of sharpening without issues but it certainly helps illustrate how soft the original appears. Otherwise, WB looks good which is important and the action is pretty good. So if the softness is due to the forum software then it's a good shot.

I will check, but I did reduce size to 700, using picasa. What would cause the softness?? I also uploaded to a web album I have in picasa, it looks sharper there? Is there anything I could be doing wrong to cause the softness?

I just looked at some other photo's I posted under sports from a different game, same setup,

These I took at same gym, other end where light was a little dimmer, could the lighting cause the softness??

thanks

Even if you reduce the size, the shot can still be too large. In Photoshop, use the quality slider to reduce the number of bytes. It works to keep sharpness.
