I think you should re-shoot with it on the lens.

no, its not that bad. Focus is just a bit off when looking at the nikon logo. Especially the "N"s. A slightly smaller aperture would fix that no problem

(for what it's worth, as a pentax shooter, i'd like to see the logo even more out of focus.)

Yea the logo could have been alittle bit more in focus and no offence taken wanting it out of focus im a nikon guy lol everyone ha a peferance

Its not that its OOF, its just a very narrow DOF and the focal point appears to be towards the bottom of the cap. Stopping down a bit to get all of the logo in focus would be preferential.

Well having a narrow DOF leaves everything else OUT OF FOCUS.
