Default Auto Part for Catalog

Hello folks, I am new to DSLR photography, and to this site. This seems like a great place to get some feedback. I am using a Canon Digital Rebel XSi with the EF-S 18-55 lens. The photos are coming out blurry, and I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, or I need a different lens.

Both examples are from the same shot, it wouldnt let me upload the whole file.

Any recommendations would help me greatly, thanks!

Hi, Welcome to the forums. The top of the picture looks pretty sharp while the foreground is a bit out of focus. The main reason for this would be a shallow depth of field. This is caused by using a wide F-stop/aperture. Use a larger F-stop number (smaller opening) should fix this. Say about f-16 or 22.
