Default Hot (42 degrees) evening shot

Hi friends

The other day we had 2 days in a row above 42 degrees Celsius here in Adelaide, South Australia!

I went down to the beach to relax and have a swim. After my swim I took some photos. It was still around 40 degrees when I took these photos.

Here is one of the ones I was quite happy with (cropped into a panorama). Taken with my Canon 70-300mm L lens at 244mm f/11, ISO 200.

You can see the heat haze, especially in the distance. The land in the background is over 50 km away. Zoomed up in the full resolution photo, it looks like a water painting effect.

You can see a larger version here: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_2...op%20small.jpg

Hope you enjoy viewing it. Any comments / feedback much appreciated.

Paul

I like it. It has a nice mood to it. Not a lot of stress in that photo.

Thanks Soupcreek

I'm glad that you wrote "It has a nice mood to it. Not a lot of stress in that photo". That's exactly the feeling that I was wishing to convey!

Relaxed, (super) warm weekend evening by the sea! Thanks for your comment.

Hey, we also had a heat wave here in Toronto, Canada! Last Friday set a new recorded high: 10 Celsius! Of course, it is back down to -9 this morning with 10-20 centimeters of snow expected.

Maybe you'd like some?

Ha ha... thanks for the offer Craig, but I'm not a fan of cold weather.

I lived in Europe for about a decade, and worked out before that duration that I prefer 40 degrees to minus anything!

:-) Hope you got a chance to enjoy the 'balmy' record high of 10 degrees. Of course you can get decent weather in summer.

Cheers!! Did you like the photo?

I did. I try to imagine a photo framed on a wall. Yours would look very nice!

Craig
PS I just came inside from shoveling the snow. (Only about 3 centimeters.) The temperature is about -9 C but the sun is shining brightly, the air is crisp and clear and the sky is a brilliant blue. I think it is a beautiful day! I'm really not much for the heat. To each their own!

Thanks Craig for your post again. Very glad you like it and even consider it 'wall & frame'-worthy!

He he... indeed horses or courses. I'm glad you like the snow. I certainly don't mind the occasional crisp, cold, snap - that can look brilliant with the clear blue sky & shining sun!

However it's the fact that often there are so many days in between that are grey, miserable, windy and the defrosting wet/muddy aspect - that I disliked the most.

At the same time I will admit 42 degrees is somewhat extreme! Thankfully 'over 40' only happens a few days a summer on average here.

Enjoy - and I look forward to seeng some of your lovely snow / winter shots!

We're rather excited to be getting above 0 C lately, but I'm not ready to take a swim just yet.
