Default Winter Light through Trees

Hiya! Here are three photos... One is the original... the second is messing around with the exposure... the third is using HDR software. Which is best? Any andvice on what to improve on?

I actually like the first photo best.
The Sun seems to be burning itself through the trees, and the background at ground level appears warmer than the others.
Nice.

Agree - I like #1 best.

In #1 I am drawn to the way the sun is shining through the trees an lighting up the branches.

In 2 and 3 (to some extent) the large dark tree on the left is dominating the scene and making me cold just looking. I don't get the feel of the warmth from the sunshine like in #1.
