Wow, great color! Too bad you weren't above the stand to capture it's legs.

I agree with Walter but even if you did the background is not the most pleasing. I think you could play with the levels some and make the bird stick out more from the background. cardinals are so beautiful.

Gorgeous coloured bird. We just have to take our chances when snapping birds.

Is that a bird feeder its sitting on or did the bird just happen to land on some wood and you got off a quick shot. If the latter is the case you did well, it could have been better, but you did well. If its on a feeder and you knew birds will land there, then your camera angle is really bad and you should have done a lot better to show off the bird completely.

This Cardinal picture is gorgeous, you are lucky that your bird is so tame our Cardinals do not come very close they are very shy. Boo hoo,,,,

Thanks for all the comments! Bynx, I agree with you completely, though Calendula gives an insight into the challenge. A pair of the birds happened to land on a table near one of my bird feeders. I noticed this, grabbed the camera, cracked the patio door, got on my belly and started shooting around the door. By the time I rose up to get a better angle, they were gone.

I tried to pop the color, but nothing looked quite right. I'll put more time into the editing when I get a better shot. Unfortunately, this was the best of the lot. I did get one shot with legs, but the focus was off.
