Love it, that is one fab shot. The detail and colour your have captured is super, nice use of DOF as well.

The first one works better for me. I prefer the bit of green diluting the unremitting purple -- I find purple too much by itself. Other colors can sustain a monocolor image, but purple not so much. YMMV. Further, I really like the effect of the in-focus inside vs the out-of-focus outside. It really evokes the feel of your title. The burr in-focus of the second shot just doesn't seem to have the same metaphysical heft, if that communicates.

Like Hards80, I prefer the second image. I don't think the purple needs diluting in this particular shot. Both are great.

It's a tough call between the two for me, I like both. When I first viewed the first shot I thought it was an excellent match to your subject line. IMHO the second shot is a better match.
