Nice shot with beautiful colors in the sky, which is why I think it needs more sky and less ground in the frame. Is that a person in the center of the picture?

Thanks umdaman1. There is a person in the center who had just finished surfing. I had left the large amount of sand in the picture going for a "vastness" type effect.

Hi,

This is a really nice picture of a sunset.

But the only issue is that the photo is divided in 50% sky and 50% land, whereas, the composition should have been in the ratio of 75:25 which would have resulted in something very dramatic.

If possible why not try another picture with different composition and see the difference. I bet you will be proud of yourself.

Thanks for the comments saketb. When I took the shot I was thinking the ground added to what I was trying to convey. After looking at some other sunsets I see what you and umdaman1 are trying to say. It is not about the editing of the shot it is the actual set up of the shot. If all the sand wasn't there I would have been able to get more of the colors and clouds in the sky in to the picture which would be more "interesting/dramatic."

Thank you!

Exactly, divmedic4. If you wanted the "vastness" effect, what's more vast than the sky? Especially if the sky is as beautiful as the one you captured. Whatever message I'm trying to convey with a picture I take lots of shots with different compositions and angles. Sometimes I get a few good ones, sometimes I get nothing. The key is to keep shooting.
