Good shot and good crop.

There is a lot going on in this composition and it all works together. The white residue everywhere but the parts closest to the eye (eyelids?) both gives it depth and makes the eye and eyelids stand out. The horizontal surface of his snout in the foreground works the same way. I count 4 symmetric C-shaped curves that lead the viewer's eye back to the croc's. Finally the diagonal of the eye, achieved through the combo of point of view and it appearing to be partially closed, fits our cultural symbolism of an evil or powerful eye.
Well done.

Sometimes when I see criticism it really makes me laugh. In this case, the pic you got of the eye is just fine. Suggesting to change the angle, while might be a good suggestion in theory, in your case, just not practical. You get the best you can get under the circumstances provided. And you did good.
