Default Madelyn on her beam.

Ok. Madelyn was the instigator tonight. As soon as we got home, she started bugging me to take a picture of her on her beam. (Twist my arm.) We started out with one flash unit, but then decided we needed another. I've never tried two flash units before, so this was something new. Critique greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced!

Lighting is a bit too harsh for my tastes. Perhaps some supplemental light from above might work.

I would say that the lighting is a bit too direct and leads the eye to her folded arms. Possibly use a diffuser and beam more towards the face with the rest of the glow over the body. very good focus (small apperature). I would say that it is great for a family photo but could be improved.

Thanks Jelpee & Lorenww,

I really appreciate it!

Yeah. I just dug out the flash units -- last weekend? About the only diffuser I have right now is a small shoot through umbrella. That's about as far as I got the last time I started trying to learn this stuff.

I can see what you are saying about the light coming from above, and beaming it more towards the face. I will definitely try that out. That would probably get rid of that deep shadow against her chest as well.

Take care, thanks again!

Diffuser would be used to subtle down the flash.

Thanks now_abhi! Greatly appreciated.

I'm actually going to do a little reading on diffusers tonight. [Working late at work, but brought a couple of books I picked up over the past year to read after work], along with a link I was passed.

Take care,
Glen
