Here is my first shot and I was wondering what you all thought.

Yes, it is a very nice shot. If you were to dig my ribs hard for a comment, I would say the lighting is a little flat, apart from the left leaf, which somehow draws my attention more than the apple.

Nice shot!
I like the use of shallow depth of field.
I agree that the lighting is a bit flat, but if you're open to PP suggestions, maybe increase the contrast and saturation. It might help to separate the apple from the nice blurry background a bit more?
Take care and thanks for posting!

Very nice. You can work a little with contrast, levels and sharpening.

shringan21 (the OP) do you live in the Southern Hemisphere? Exif data shows it was taken on Mar 30, which is fall south of the equator. Apples are harvested then. To me the end of apple harvest season means exhausted, bare trees and coming winter. Maybe I'm projecting too much onto this image, but if its the end of apple season then I think the flat light, colors with low saturation and the two dying leaves all fit that mood well.
