I prefer the second, partly because the first gives me a bit of a "tractor wheel in the face" feeling, but mostly because #2 frames the subject better. #1 has just "too much tractor" for me.

I appreciate the feedback. My initial reaction was to prefer the first, but clearly that is a minority view. Would the second work better if I had used a longer focal length like for the first, but stepped back enough to have a similar framing, or does the "splayed wheels" look of the UW focal length accentuate the general delapidated state of the jalopy?

I like the short-focal length wide-angle distortion and I think it adds to the feel.

I'm in a minority, but I much prefer the first one. Neither picture shouts Apple Orchard (to me) but number one presents the vehicle beautifully, especially if you like old vehicles. The wide-angle shots - I think - distort the vehicle rather unpleasantly. There's no accounting for tastes, eh?
