Default Community Bridge Mural

I have been trying to take pictures of the Community Bridge Mural for several years and have not been satisfied with the results. The problem is that the entire bridge is a painted mural which is very good at fooling the human eye but not a camera lens. Any suggestions on how to set up to make it look more realistic. Here are a couple of my early attempts.

The only thing I could suggest is a bit of selective burning to the "fake" shadows...

Yes, it took them ~3 years to complete the job. The funniest thing I have seen is people who look at it from the view point of my second shoot and then crossing the bridge and going down to look behind the pillar to see if the duck is real or painted (it's painted).

Thanks Simon, It does seem like I get a better "look" when it is a bit overcast.

Wish the still made bridges like that, guess we have to settle for good looking paint jobs nowadays.
