Default sunset in november

i took this one back in november '11 and although at the time i loved it and it even managed to get on the bbc weather's website photo gallery, there's something about it that needs a little pp. inexperienced as i am i thought i'd offer it up for some scrutineering.

my first picture in this section... terrrified lol

I think it's lovely! What do you think is wrong with it?

i wasnt quite sure jeannie, maybe a bit dark. but then when i look at the center of the pic i feel the sun might be flaring too much. youre very kind though and i appreciate your compliment, thankyou

The horizon is tilted a bit, otherwise it looks great.

thanks jim, left the horizon that way because the valley i was stood over tilts slightly down to the left and locally its quite recognisable that way. but as a photo for the general viewing i agree the horizon is in need of levelling. thanks again for your welcome comments

Awesome color! the color really is the subject of this image. great as is, but as its the critique forum, the only thing id try to alter is to increase the contrast in the trees in the bottom part of the photo. I know they are trees by comming real close to the image and straining to make out detail, but from any distance they are just a black area. If there was a way to bring out the detail just a tiny tiny bit it would look amazing and add extra depth to the image, IMO.

Cracking capture though! would be happy with this one myself

Nice shot- though I take your point about the "flare".
You could really make a case for a HDR image here....
I couldn't resist a tinker though- with a bit of cloning and smudging to lessen the flare and a bit of shadow adjustment in the trees...
