Canon EOS D30:?yes.. D30 is my first DSLR I bought 2 weeks ago... my second SLR in my whole life after the Canon T70.

How are the photos looking?

This one is shot with a sigma 55-200mm at 200mm, f5.6, 1/200,iso100

This one is shot with a sigma 18-50mm at 50mm, f8, 10s, iso100

Outdated DSLR + cheap lens.... :-)

I feel that you did a credible job with both shots. They certainly convey the essence of the scenes you selected. The first one might simply boil down to cropping choices.
Good job!

I like the outdoor shot.

It looks like a film transparency!

What settings did you use to take it?

This one (pond, bamboo, hat) is very nice. You have a good eye for composition.
Thank-you,

Thank you for you nice word.

It was actually a crop out ofa bigger picture. I am still learning to frame a picture "as is" especially with the D30's 3.2 megapixel limitation.

Thank you for your encouragement.:G

I love the last one with the hat...The composition is excellent! It is a tad under exposed and you may prefer to give it a slight warmer feel.
