LAWD...The second image is pretty dang good. Why did you ruin it in post? :-)

Your original image is basically a high key scene. High key is when all the tones are pale or light colored. When this is the situation, the eyes should be the darkest element in the scene and very little shadow should be present because it becomes a distraction and pulls the viewer away from the eyes. You should keep this in mind when creatively preparing your images. I've edited your image for demonstration purposes.

Oh my...I just started working with it and don't have a clue exactly what I did to it. I know I converted to b/w and bumped up the exposure a tad and cloned out a couple dark spots on the background.

Your color image is technically good and only requires a little tweaking so I didn't do too much. *wink*

A reminder from this forum's guidelines for future posts (bold added for emphasis):

Quote:
4. Be Concise
Please post only one image per thread...this will allow each image to be judged on it's own merits and keeps the thread on topic. A critique which picks apart every detail of the image posted had better be worth the time reading it.
http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=49777&forum_id=90

Note that it's fine to post more than one version of the same image in response to critique (here it is cropped or processed differently, etc.). But, we'd prefer not to have different images in the same thread. In other words, if wanting comment and critque on more than one image, pleasestart a new thread for each image.

Since we've already got multiple comments, I'll leave this one as is, rather than disrupt the thread (it didn't go over too well the last time I edited photos out of a thread). ;-)

Thanks for understanding!

Jim C.
