I took this one this morning. I wanted a very shallow DOF so the petals could blend into the background. Whatcha think?

Rodney,

I really like this one. Curious of your lighting. Did you combine fill flash, or a reflector to work with the natural morning light? I can see tiny hints of shadow towards the center.Love how the top petal slowly blurs into the background.I wonder if it would work better without the green leaves near the center? Great colors.

Thomas.

Hi Thomas,

I shot this one on a partly cloudy morning. I waited for a cloud to block the sun to give me some diffusion. By doing this, I didn't eliminate all the directional lighting.

I thought about removing the leaves, but decided that leaving them would keep it more natural and interesting looking. Also, I was thinking about the background colors and the main flower would have blended in too much. I did try to position them a little better, but the gusts of wind rearranged them for me. :-)

Thank you for the comments.

Rodney
