I shot this one today. I'll try to get a better shot tomorrow. :-) Any suggestions?

What Rodney, no matting?? :-) Just kidding!

Certainly nice composition and DOF, but I can't help but feel that it is a little dark... the color of the flower could maybe be punched up a little??

On my monitor, the colors are deep and rich, not dark at all!

Lovely photo. After seeeing so many high contrast, harshly lit flowers, this one is very soothing. There are times when shadows give great shapes, but here is an example where strong shadows are not necessary.

Just my opinion, in my current mood,

Gordon

I'll post a matted version just for you. :-) I'll brighten it up to see what it looks like. I'm thinking to make it brighter will jeopardize the richness of the color. The flower is properly exposed, but I'm thinking I should have under exposed by about 1/3 stop.

Thanks for the comments, Gordon. Read my previous comment about the richness of the color. I'd like your thoughts on it.

Rodney,

I think that your instincts were right the first time. That is the image that I prefer. The second one seems "thinner", less opaque.

At this level of detail, individual equipment makes a difference. A print would be the final result and it would be your call as to how dark or light you want it to be.
