Here's a photo I got of my wife after her university graduation ceremony.
Unfortunately the placement of the degree certificate I feel ruins the shot a little, but other than that I would like some comments/suggestions on the photo in general.
The editing I have done so far is to warm the colours a little, mask the background and apply gaussian blur to it. Apply unsharp mask to the foreground layer. And finally some slight cropping.
The edits were done in Gimp as I wanted to experiment with it to see how it compared to Photoshop CS.

Very nice composed.

:-)

Kudos to your spouse on all her hard work!

Congrats to your wife.

As for the photo - I'm not sure what the white objects are on the right side of the photo but the brightness of them is distracting to me - it draws attention away from your subject. Just my opinion.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks (and wife says thanks too)
The white objects are part of a fountain outside the town hall where the grad ceremony was held.
We wanted them in the photo but I was wondering myself if maybe they were a little too bright... might play around with them and see if I can make them less distracting.
