Here is a picture I took at the park a few weeks ago...my 3 year old cousin Maddie It's taken with my Canon A95 just on auto mode, I don't know how to work any ofthe manual stuff unfortunately.

Or does it look better when cropped closer?

Thank you in advance for any comments

Hi there!

Welcome to the forums! :-)I have to say your cousin is just so adorable!

Both of these images are a joy to look at. The colors and lighting are great! The cropping helps in the way of hiding photographer's shadow :Gand the shadow on the right side of the frame.

Good job...these kinds of images make everyone smile! :-)

Great picture, but I do like the first one best. I would crop out the shadow on the left side but keep as much yellow as possible, it adds to the colorful composition. Next thing you have to do is learn the manual features of your camera. There is so much more to Photography then Green Box picture taking.

Keep it up.

I'm just a beginner myself, so please take my comments with a grain of salt.

Beautiful composition. I prefer the tighter crop, but both are effective.

Great subject and expression.

One problem: Maddie is illuminated with both direct light and light filtered through or reflected from the colored tube. That makes a proper color balance hard to reach since it will be a compromise. I would adjust the white balance so that her face is warm and natural. It looks a little blue now. Compare her face to her knees, which have redder light. If you adjust the color to make her face perfect, the knees will be a bit red, but that's OK, and I suspect that the tube will pop out an even more vivid red, which will enhance the playful effect.

A little fill flash would have been useful.
