Taken yesterday on a rebel xt with the standard lens (don't yet own a proper macro lens).

Other than resize, no editing has been done. I could see where a slight crop could help... Any tips are appreciated!

Nice shot... not a huge amount to get over or under excited about however. This is just me though as I'm not into flower shots. This is better than the usual for me though. Colour and background make a verynice composition. I glad to see you have the courage to crop as you have/ or compose as you have. This shows me potential.

Excellent.

I like the shot a lot. Hope you don't mind but I've just got PS CS2 so keen to play around with it. I took the image and subjected it to the 'smart sharpen' filter (67%, radius 1.6) and added a bit more contrast. Also cropped a little.

thanks for the tip!

i too later cropped it, but that smart sharpen & contrast really make it seem to "pop" more! Thanks!

...and for the record, I'm not really into flower shots myself... i kinda got roped into taking some to be auctioned off for charity... urgh.

i love all the texture, i do like it cropped tighter though, good job! i like flower pictures, they are easy to work with...and they don't talk back to you.

One learns so much from a simple posting. It seems this particular flower is in bloom everywhere - anyone have a name for it. Thanks
